SSS WDR Webinar
May 29, 2025
The Clean Water Summit Partners (CASA, CWEA, BACWA, Clean Water SoCal, and CVCWA) hosted a webinar related to implementation of the 2022 General Order for Sanitary Sewer Systems (SSS-WDR). The agenda and the recording can be found here. The webinar included the following presentations and announcements:
- Agenda / Flyer and Recording
- Compliance Expectations. Staff from the State Water Board’s Office of Enforcement provided a comprehensive overview of SSS-WDR compliance inspections and enforcement considerations, including an explanation of how they decide which agencies to inspect. They also explained typical components of an inspection, including site visits to manholes, lift stations, grease interceptors, and spill locations. Link to Video. To be prepared for an inspection and maintain compliance with the SSS-WDR, agencies should also check out the State Water Board’s Pre-Inspection Questionnaire.
- 2025 Sewer Summit Collection System Presentation
SWRCB, Office of Enforcement
- 2025 Sewer Summit Collection System Presentation
- Sewer System Management Plans (SSMP) – Representatives from the City of Chino, Inland Empire Utilities Agency, and Central Contra Costa Sanitary District shared insights and tips for agencies currently updating their SSMPs. Panelists recommended that agencies allow plenty of time to collaborate internally with O&M division staff, to allow staff to review the draft SSMP, and to get the SSMP calendared for Board or Council approval. Link to Video. Link to SSMP Guidance Document (2024).
- CIWQS Updates. State Water Board staff provided clarifications on system performance analysis graphs, SSMP due dates, and SSMP change logs. They also noted that agencies reporting spills to CIWQS should ensure the volume of spill recovered is less than the total volume of a spill (i.e., do not include washdown water or other water in the recovered volume). Link to Video.
